Six ways to use an Everything Tallow tub

A tub of our tallow has a short ingredient list and an endless list of uses. Most people start with their face and end up reaching for it everywhere. Here’s where it tends to earn its spot on the bathroom shelf.

1. Everyday moisturiser
A pea-sized scoop warmed between your fingers and pressed into clean skin. The tallow melts at around body temperature, so a little goes a long way, and a thin layer can leave skin feeling moisturised and comfortable in dry, windy or colder weather. If your skin runs oily or breaks out easily, start light and see how it feels.

2. Hands and cuticles
Dishes, hand sanitiser, nappy changes and winter all take their toll. Keep the tub where you’ll use it and rub a little into your knuckles and cuticles through the day.

3. Elbows, knees and shins
Rich balms can help reduce moisture loss, making them a useful choice for areas that feel particularly dry. Beeswax adds a bit of staying power. Apply to damp skin after a shower and give it a few minutes before dressing.

4. An overnight mask
When something needs more than a daily dab, apply a thick layer to your heels or hands before bed, then pull on cotton socks or gloves. Leave it on overnight and wash or wipe away any excess in the morning.

5. Flyaways and dry ends
Warm a tiny amount between your palms, then smooth it over frizzy ends or stray hairs. Go very light, because a little goes a long way and too much will look greasy.

A few ground rules
Use clean fingers and keep the tub somewhere cool. If your balm is scented, patch test on your inner wrist first, and skip the lips and anywhere near your eyes. And if you’re dealing with a persistent skin issue, check with your GP before reaching for a balm.
